About me

I have recently completed a PhD at the School of English, in the University of Leeds. . I like hiking in the woods, drinking good whisky (neat, thank you very much! take those ice cubes away), eating pretty much anything, and reading everything I can get my hands on (my predilections are too long to summarize concisely, but they take in genres ranging from webcomics to medieval Italian apocalyptic literature [in translation] and everything in between). I also enjoy doodling (as above).
You can find me on Twitter at @Cherissonne and email me at c_chettle@yahoo.co.uk. My academic profile is here: http://www.leeds.ac.uk/arts/people/20040/school_of_english/person/1452/christine.

In addition, I've also co-ordinated a digital storytelling project focussed on the Victorian fantasy writer George MacDonald. You can check this out here: http://subvertinglaughter.wordpress.com/about/

I'm currently co-organizing a research initiative investigating fairy tales, folk tales and fantasy as sites of multi-cultural intersection and intervention, entitled Reading the Fantastic. You can see our research activities at www.reading-the-fantastic.tumblr.com and investigate our upcoming conference at www.readingthefantastic.wordpress.com.
